statement
My works reflect on the construction of identity based on referents such as experiential and non-experiential memory, as well as other factors related to cultural and social contexts and the experience of time. The elements I work with reveal links between apparently distant levels, in an interplay that oscillates between the small subjective scale and the large scale of abstract patterns and macro-structures that escape a primary apprehension.
Materials, and the value they have in connecting to ideas not otherwise accessible, are an essential part of my projects. I resort to elements that have a secondary or even totally irrelevant value, and that I recover for their capacity to tell stories by associating apparently distant levels through more complex formulations.
In each proposal I explore patterns of behaviour and generational dynamics, often applying study models in which different types of lines serve as archetypes of analysis. The straight line, the circumference, the spiral, for example, constitute the backbone of my performances and shed light on each reflection, unveiling unpredictable results.
